WOOLSCHOOL - YORKSHIRE BUTTON CACTUS PINCUSHION

Learn how to make Yorkshire Buttons using looms of varying sizes and turn them into a fun but practical pincushion.

WOOLSCHOOL - INTRODUCTION TO NÁLBINDING

Participants will learn the basic techniques of this ancient single-needle textile craft using Oslo stitch and begin a small piece of needlebound fabric.

WOOLSCHOOL - HAND DYEING WORKSHOP

You will learn how to transform beautiful Tencel yarn into your own unique collection of hand-dyed mini skeins.

All materials, dyes and equipment will be provided - just bring your creativity and be prepared to get colourful.

WOOLSCHOOL - AFTERTHOUGHT HEELS: CUT INTO YOUR KNITTING WITH CONFIDENCE

In this practical workshop, Donna will guide you through identifying and marking the heel position, safely cutting into your knitted fabric, picking up the stitches and working the heel.

Level of experience required: Students need to be confident knitters, comfortable with knit and purl stitches, following a simple pattern, and working small circumferences in the round using their preferred method.

WOOLSCHOOL - AN INTRODUCTION TO PLY-SPLIT BRAIDING

You will learn some of the basic methods of ply-splitting that have been traditionally used to make camel girths and animal harnesses. Using prepared 4-ply cotton cords, you will make samples of several different designs suitable for key fobs and bracelets.

WOOLSCHOOL - SILK RIBBON EMBROIDERY

This is an introduction to silk ribbon embroidery. You will learn how to embroider a selection of different flowers using silk ribbon.

WOOLSCHOOL - STACKED STITCHES

You will learn about Stacked Stitches, which is a great technique invented by Xandy Peters.

Knitting with stacked stitches (staking increases or decreases on top of each other within the same row) creates amazing shapes and patterns in your knitting whilst still only using one colour at a time. Fabulous textures can also be achieved.

WOOLSCHOOL - AN INTRODUCTION TO TABLET WEAVING

Participants will be introduced to the technique of making narrow bands using four-holed tablets (cards) and a range of patterns from a two-colour warp.

All equipment and materials will be supplied, and the tablets will be warped and ready to start weaving.

WOOLSCHOOL - INTRODUCTION TO JACOBEAN CREWELWORK EMBROIDERY

This workshop introduces the traditional technique of Jacobean crewelwork embroidery. Working with crewel wool, participants will stitch a small botanical design based on the flowing plant forms found in historical crewelwork.
