Frequently Asked Questions

Wonderwool Wales is a celebration of wool and natural fibres.  From the sheep or other fibre producing animal, to the finished product ie. yarns and fibre used in many wool crafts such as knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, dyeing and felting.

It is the largest show of its kind in Wales, the UK and Europe.

You can find raw fleece, hand-dyed yarns and fibre, accessories, equipment, books and finished products.

We have, in recent years, added textiles to the mix so that there is something for everyone at the largest show in Wales. You will find fabrics, dress making patterns and some patchwork related products.

The event takes place on the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, Powys LD2 3SY.

The show usually takes place on the 4th weekend in April. The dates are shown on the Home page of our website.

Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4.30pm.

The Showground can be reached by car, car sharing or minibuses/coaches organised by other companies or groups.

There is a train service to Builth Road Station which runs on a Saturday only. If you are using the train service you can organise a pick up by our minibus service by emailing us with your name, contact details and train arrival time. Our minibuses are able to offer a return trip to the station in time for your journey home, just let us know details in advance. Email chrissie@wonderwoolwales.co.uk

Yes, the showground has tarmac surfaces. There are ramps into all Halls. The aisles are designed with wheelchair access in mind so there is plenty of room to be able to get around the halls. There are disabled access toilet facilities around the outside of the halls and in some of the toilet blocks. There is dedicated Disabled Parking near to the halls, just follow the road signs for Disabled Parking, Exhibitors & Livestock. The stewards will then show you where to park.

Yes, we have free parking on the lower showground, just follow the stewards’ instructions as they will direct you on where to park.

The parking area is approximately 5-10 minutes walk to the halls depending on your pace. Minibuses provide a service throughout the day, running from the parking area to the halls and back again, all we ask is that you make a minimum donation of 50p in the charity bucket on the minibus. This money collected is then donated to the Wales Air Ambulance, an essential service if you live or travel within Wales.

We run a wide selection of workshops (Woolschools) and tickets for these can be purchased through our website, where you will find all the details on each one.

The Guilds of Spinners, Weavers & Dyers are usually active on their stands and are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Other exhibitors may also offer short demonstrations if asked.

Ashford in Hall 3 offer ‘have a go’ opportunities to try out spinning wheels and looms. You can usually try these on other equipment stands as well.

Wonderwool Wales accepts all major credit/debit cards for ticket and Woolschool purchases made on the day, along with any Wonderwool Wales merchandise.

Most of our exhibitors accept credit cards but do bring some cash with you just in case.

There are no cash machines on the showground, if you require these facilities you will need to go into Builth Wells or Llandrindod Wells where you can use the Post Office or cash machine if there is one.

There is also the Dining Marquee in the shed in front of Hall 2 by the Caterers where there are lots of tables and chairs available to use. This is primarily for those purchasing food from our Street Food outlets.

If you wish to take photographs of stands or products please ask the stand holder before doing so as there may be some items that they do not wish photographed.
